In 2014, the total number of vehicles registered is 750,076 in Hong Kong, with a stunning amount of over 50,000 new car registrations per year in this small city – an average of 9 individuals owning an auto. Drunk driving is a serious problem in Hong Kong.In the past decade, accidents caused by drunk driving had occupied a large proportion among other causation of traffic accidents. From the government statistics, among the total traffic accidents happened in 2013 that caused death or serious injuries (2,604 cases); approximately 25% (651 cases) were caused by drunk driving. And in the first two seasons of 2014, 467 individuals were arrested because of drunk driving. Safety Car Hong Kong is a new-raised organization that provides first designed driver service in Hong Kong in order to fight against dangerous drunk driving. We care for every pedestrians and car-way users. This pilot programme aims to promote road safety and to cultivate a good driving culture amongst car users.
