Automatic retinal image analysis system (ARIAS) is a computer algorithm for detection of diabetic retinopathy (DR), age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and risk of stroke. The sensitivity and specificity are more than 90%. Since retina have the same embryo origin and histological structure with the brain and related to the vascular system. It can be used to detect both eyes and cardiovascular related diseases. The target populations include diabetes patients, elderly and young people with cardiovascular health concerns. The technology has already obtained US patent on 2014, and waiting for China and Taiwan. It is designed to install in a central cloud server for a secure pre-authorized web access. Retinal images can be captured by ophthalmologists, optometrists, GP and even technician with minimal training as fully automatic fundus cameras are available. Future application using "iPhone Peek" or similar technology is possible. It will revolutionalized healthcare for the future.
